Friday Flash ReVisited *and* (link to) 52/250: Morpheus

2010-08-27 09.08.54

This week began the first week of 4th grade for my son, Monsterbat.  Mommy things take priority, so I haven’t had time to write something for #FridayFlash. Last night however, as I read a post by the brilliant and talented Jim Bronyaur, a wonderful idea struck me – I’ll repost my original #FridayFlash too as …

Writing Prompt #10

2010-08-26 20.27.49

Retell a fairy tale or fable, but tell it as the real events that evolved into the tale. For instance, the basis of Hansel and Gretel could be an old woman who gave treats to the neighborhood kids and was accused of witchcraft when they disappeared. Tell it from the villain’s point of view.

Current Events and a request for patience

Just a quick note: This week I’m catching up on writing as well as adjusting to a new school schedule for Monsterbat, so my blog posts may be erratic for the next two to three weeks. I’m starting to fall behind in my other objectives, and I need to take the time to accomplish work …

Friday Flash: The ‘Do Over’ *and* (link to) 52/250: “2 a.m.”

Middle School

The ‘Do Over’ The mean boys hung around the bicycle rack behind the school. Rachael Wentworth dreaded the inevitable confrontation when she went to retrieve her wheels – the taunts, the jeers, the unending humiliation that came with being the school pariah. Newly christened Rachael ‘Worthless’ by her classmates, the brand followed her throughout the …

Not only is one of my stories, A Hell of a Job, published in the anthology, but J.M. Strother also credited me as an Associate Editor. I’m very honoured and flattered …

Ramblings and Musings and Nanowrimo 2010 Prep

2010-05-30 18.08.53

Ramblings and Musings and Nanowrimo 2010 Prep Yesterday on Twitter, some fellow writers and I discussed (read: PANICKED) how Nanowrimo was only (just over) two months away, how excited we were, and what prep work (if any) we planned to do. This naturally got me musing about all I’ve gleaned from my three previous years …

Friday Flash: Snow White Retold *and* (link to) 52/250: Space Camp

2010-08-13FFblog

Snow White Retold From within the crystal coffin, the fair maiden arose from the kiss of her beloved Prince. Vlad had been her intended before the Queen had broken their engagement and betrayed her – by charging the huntsman with bringing back her heart in a wooden box. Fortunately the weak minded were easily led, …

Flash updates, Story Review, and My Ramblings

2010-05-30 18.08.53

The theme for week #13, Space Camp, will post to the 52|250 challenge site on Friday the 13th. I didn’t realize the posting date when I originally wrote my story, also titled ‘Space Camp’, so the nature of the plot is oddly coincidental. Though the stories are appearing on the same days as #Fridayflash, I …
