Happy National Novel Editing Month!

March is National Novel Editing Month - NaNoEdMo for short. Authors that completed a 50,000 word novel last November during NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) would do well to edit their rough draft now. NaNoEdMo offers support in much the same way that NaNoWriMo does – through website forums, articles, widgets, a podcast (every Monday during March), and other helpful tidbits. The NaNoEdMo site is open to any author that has written a completed work that needs to be edited, be it manuscript, screenplay, or novel. You must log in your hours spent editing at least once a week and complete 50 hours by the end of March to “win.” While the competition motivates you to get you off your butt, the Grand Prize is a certificate. However, the real prize is that you finally finish editing your work!

During March, I will spend most of my free time editing “The Wonderfully Exciting and Awesome Adventures of Monkey boy,” my NaNoWriMo novel from last November. It’s a children’s story I wrote for my little boy, and I want to finish editing it by the end of the month! Unfortunately, that will cut down on my other web activities and fiction writing.

So if you have a completed rough draft that you’d like to finish editing, head on over to the official National Novel Editing Month Website at http://www.nanoedmo.net

Good luck, and Happy Editing!

See you in April! ;)
